Saharia (“Shaharit” in Arabic – the very first light after the blackest moment of night), is our Arab working group. Shaharit believes that no issue is more important to the future of Israel than building common cause between its Jewish and Arab citizens, but for this to happen. Both Jewish and Arab political values need to change. The group focuses on the implications in the public sphere of a full embrace of both their Israeli and Palestinian identities. They are presently considering a community organizing project of bringing together representatives of different hamulot (clans) in local communities to work on joint visions for their towns and cities, thus nurturing common cause.
