Initially, Shaharit compiled groups of some 25 participants, which met regularly for two years. Participants came from a variety of social, cultural and religious backgrounds: Arabs and Jews, religiously observant and secular, Ashkenazi and Mizrachi, Israeli-born and recent immigrants. They shared both criticisms of the current political dialogue, and the aspiration to establish a new agenda with new partners. During its first two years of activity, Shacharit set itself the key goal of criss-crossing the country to meet a variety of people and groups. We wished to simply get to know Israel from multiple perspectives. We achieved this goal beyond our expectations. While Shacharit has yet to visit every spot in Israel, its partners have met and learned from hundreds of individuals and tens of communities and activist groups: in Yerucham, Rahme, Ashdod, Efrat, Ein Hod, Nazareth, Tirat HaCarmel, Tel Aviv and Um el-Fahm, to name a few.

The blog, documents, position papers and articles created at Shacharit draw their richness from each and every one of the people we've encountered.
